Kenna is a pretty typical single mom. She takes her 5 kids to dance, soccer, and scouts. She just happens to make her living as an erotic book blogger. She has accepted the fact that she will probably always be single, until her dream fantasy man is sitting right in front of her.
Jax likes control. He's never considered love or romance as an option, just as a necessary means to win a woman he's interested in. So when he eyes a beautiful woman at a coffee shop and can't stop thinking about her, he wonders what he has to do to possess her.
This is the hilarious story of two people who in a world of dreams are made for each other, but in reality could not be more incompatible. Will they find a way to make the dreams that live in their fantasies real, or are they destined to live without each other?
Author's Note
The Daydreaming novella series takes place in the same world as the Faultlines series and while there are many crossover elements, it is not the same story or direct sequel. While readers of that series will enjoy seeing characters in this series, you do not need to read one to read the other because it is not a direct sequel. This series is more erotic in nature, with lots of sexual situations, as well as a rather colorful choice of the English language (read- there's a lot of swearing), so please note that this book is for mature audiences.
Kenna Reverie Daydreaming Book 1 edition by Claire Granger Literature Fiction eBooks
I am going to disagree with the blurb and say that Kenna is not your typical single mom. At 27, she is the adoptive mom of five (yes, five) boys. As a full time romance book blogger, she has read more than her share of stories about sexy alpha males. For her, that man is a fantasy – until she meets him.Jax likes to keep things simple. He is not interested in relationships or kids, until he meets her.
This novella is a quick read but it packs a comedic and sexy punch. The witty inner dialogue and banter are enough to make you laugh out loud. The steam factor is present but not graphic. The F-bomb is dropped several times but honestly, it is my favorite word. There is no forced drama but there are some touching moments between the adults and children. Speaking of the children, they are quite interesting and are worthy of their own books. Gage and Conner left quite the impression that there is more to them than meets the eye and I am hoping we will learn more about them in this series. There is a heck of a cliff hanger, so I am looking forward to the second book.

Kenna Reverie Daydreaming Book 1 edition by Claire Granger Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews
*I received a free copy from the author for an honest review*
This was a pretty straightforward romance with enticing dialogue and full of heat.
I picked it up because it has one of my favourite romance concepts of the heroine being a mom. And the fact she is a book blogger just added the tiny push for me to want to read it without hesitation. The characters are well defined with their various mindsets and roles. They all have depth which helped me keep reading the book. I absolutely loved Kenna with her giggle inspiring inner thoughts and Jax surprised me. I was honestly expecting a typical bachelor but he turned out to be more sweet. Though he didn't know he was up to the challenge of falling for a woman with kids, he seriously rocked the family scenes. The kids kind of were background noise to me except Gage. As far as I am concerned he totally kept my attention with his snarky attitude. The things he does for his girlfriend! *lol*
The book had the 2 POVs thing working for it. And you guys know, I love peeking into my main characters' minds. The dialogue didn't lose any flow and actually, I didn't feel the time slipping while I was reading the book. It was a very short romance book with a very big cliffhanger. It felt as if the story was just starting and I was at the end suddenly. It felt rather abrupt. And that get's a negative in my book. But this has piqued my interest to get my hands on the sequel. I am so looking for more Kenna-Jax sparks. Seriously I could literally feel the electricity between the two. Whoever comes in between got to beware!
In short, adult romance lovers would love this book with the emphasis on sweet, snarky and funny.
My rating 3.5/5
My reread factor 3/5
Kenna’s Reverie is the first book in Claire Granger’s Daydreaming series. It is a very short romance novella that has a serial feel to it.
Kenna Pierce has managed to combine her love of reading and her degree in creative writing into a job as a romance book reviewer/blogger. After getting her five adopted boys off to school, this 27 year old single mom heads to her favorite coffee shop to sip iced mocha lattes and work. One day her work is interrupted by a tall, handsome stranger staring at her from across the room. When he braves asking her out, Kenna is sure that she has been set up as the butt of the joke by her girlfriends. Mr. Single and Sexy doesn’t give up even after Kenna drops the bomb that she is the mother of five.
Kenna Pierce has her act together. She’s good looking, smart, and generous. She turns into a low-class catty girl on her first date with Jax which seemed out of character given how Kenna was previously described to readers. Fortunately, it appears that her out-of-character behavior was merely the result of dancing with the green-eyed monster (yes, on the first date).
Jaxson Dowe, 32 year old executive banker, is sexy and suave. He is committed only to his status as a single player. When in a relationship he is monogamous, however, he makes it clear that a relationship with him is never for keeps. Jaxson winks so much that you might think he has a facial tick (read the winking was totally over done).
The plot of Kenna’s Reverie is quickly paced. The main characters meet in the first scene and have an instant attraction. Jaxson’s persistence pays off with a date which leads to more. There were a few jumps in character to get to where the author wanted the story to go. I had a hard time buying that a man who “doesn’t do kids or commitment” would continue to pursue a woman who has five kids (it might have been more believable if the kids hadn’t been revealed in the first scene). The relationship does develop over a several weeks as the character interaction is primarily dates on the weekend after their first encounter. Although both main characters feel an instant attraction, their relationship develops a bit before they become intimate.
Kenna’s Reverie by Claire Granger is a quick read. Kenna and Jax have good chemistry, and although Jax says he doesn’t “do kids” the vibe between him and Kenna’s children is good. There were plot points I didn’t buy and the gratuitous swearing didn’t add anything to the story, but there were plenty of fun, believable scenes when the kids were involved. Overall, it was a fun, easy story that can be read over a lunch break. There is a cliff hanger at the end of the book that is meant to be dramatic and have readers in a tizzy until the next installment is published, however, as the writer states in her story,
“You know, the cliche we all make fun of but all secretly envy. Who cares if the plot is predictable? For that matter, all romance is predictable because in order to be considered romance, there must be a happy ending, right? So really, everything in between is just filler to get to the happy ending.”
This was a 2.5 star read for me. It is a good palate-cleanser read to rid yourself of a book hangover.
This is every single girl's dream and every married woman's fantasy. A little Fifty Shades, a little sweet, and a fun short read! Love the way Claire Granger writes!
Every mom has daydreams. What if yours came true? That's the fun and sexy premise when a young woman meets a wealthy hot guy in the coffee shop. Insta-attraction! There's just one glitch, or maybe five; her kids, and there not the perfect darlings you usually read about. Real, funny, and sexually charged, I thoroughly enjoyed this read and am looking forward to Part 2!
